Artist's Website

"The image that won the 'Migraine Images' competition [Keeping Up Appearances, 1992] was not specifically about migraine, but part of a larger series about appearances and face value and the way people cover up their pain. I simply hoped my work would have a universal appeal to anyone who felt they had to put on an act even when they felt depressed, unhappy or in pain. Happily it did."

A cluster headache sufferer's comment

"Further more: many of the so called headache art, can be interpreted as many things. I'll bet if you put different titles to most of the pic's I've come across (i.e. Having a Stressful Day, I Just Lost A Love One, I Just Lost My Job, I Have an Idea, I'm Dreaming, etc.), you would accept that visual as the title."
