"I have attached pictures of the two paintings. Both paintings were produced in 2004. The painting 'Migraine' signifies, by the impaling of the head, the differing pain levels I feel during a migraine attack with the head in the foreground being the worst level of pain. The hose connected to this head signifies the wish for pain killers to be fed directly to the brain. The missing right eye of this head represents my frequent one sided loss of vision during migraine attacks along with red 'hot' lights in the affected eye."

(Email to Klaus Podoll, June 3, 2005)

"I should also have mentioned that inspiration for the 'style' of the migraine painting comes from H.R. Giger. I feel that this /dark/ style suits the /dark/ mood that migraine creates in me."

"You are correct to say that the abstract is also migraine related, it is in fact an abstract self portrait as I am a migraine sufferer although I haven't had an attack for a long time."

(Email to Klaus Podoll, June 2, 2005)

"The abstract painting signifies the colours, shapes and flashes that warn of an attack. It is at this point that I usually take medication, hold my head in my hands and hope for relief."

(Email to Klaus Podoll, June 3, 2005)

"I will have a look through my sketch books for migraine related work although I doubt if there is any more apart from the development sketch for the migraine painting which is on my site as well although it is possible that I have done some subconsciously."
