"Whether my art gets better or worse when I work with a migraine? These are points that can never be absolute since I think it is hard for any writer to definitely say which of his/her writings are 'better' and which are 'ordinary'. Sometimes when I'm writing right before the real ache sets in, I feel a heightened sense of awareness of the world, which makes for interesting poetry."

Communicate in a language
that is not ours
with closed eyes
we stretch out
- I cannot see - but
feel
there
you are
Like strong horse radish flavour
It shimmers in the dust of the bus window
and my blue migraine flames
are silent cries of joy

are your eyebulbs
raining light
Bleeding sapphires
reeking rubies
ashen bright
Don't
come
any
closer
Roses sprung
from my veins
as you did
Lilies were my cheeks
Scarlet sweet

MIGRAINE
When the streets bright
beat
against head rind
Disappeared in a world of water gained
again
foliage that forms roses against a night-black sky
leaves
against wet
asphalt
pieces of arachnoidalis
aurora
borealis
Like matte against the camera's
broken lense
And there in that light a
room
bolted by pain
