Yesterday, I walked through the forest.
Everywhere, I saw beauty.
Life blossoming all around.
Today, I walk through the desert.
Barren. Desolate. Empty.
Uncertainty.
Oh, how I long for yesterday.

I have a great big secret,
That no one else can know.
My vision's filled with really strange stuff,
Like fog and rain and snow.
The blue sky swims with sparkles,
And white things turn to black.
Oh, how I wish I had,
My normal vision back!
Straight lines look so wavy,
And objects disappear.
Flashing, flickering, shadows, and trails,
And now buzzing in my ears.
The tests, they come back normal.
I wish that one would show,
Why my right eye sees just darkness,
Why square things have a glow.
No one can know my secret.
I know that they will say,
"Call the men in little white suits,
And carry her away!"

"0100 is 1:00 in the morning... military time... or European time, too, I thought... I couldn't sleep, so I went downstairs and poured myself a glass of milk. I started doodling on a notepad and within ten minutes I had written down the verses. When I got home from work the next evening, I typed it out and posted it."
