"Support your VS 'friend'! Check out my book. Hey guys, this doesn't have to do with VS at all, but I'll throw it out there anyways. I have written and illustrated a picture book that has just been released. It's called Patrick the Somnambulist and it features the adventures of a sleepwalking, plunger-wearing penguin whose parents think he's more that a bit weird. I suppose it does relate to VS in a way. Patrick's parent send him to a shrink b/c of his odd behavior, and he is labeled (see book cover) a somnambulist. (Sound familiar?) He, however, is not deterred and takes pride in being such an odd bird. It's my first book, and I would love your support. If you're interested, you can buy it on Amazon."

"I am not doing a series featuring Patrick, but I am working on another book about an owl with a sleeping disorder (so to speak...he keeps odd hours for an owl, shall we say)..."

"The podcast JUST ONE MORE BOOK discussed my picture book today! They talked about how labeling children can be detrimental (a theme of the book) but liked that the main character takes pride in being labeled a 'somnambulist'. I would actually like to have a real, universally understood label for VS so that I can quit explaining it to people and getting those odd looks. To listen, go to this link and hit play: here."

"Children's literature is my passion. I am currently working on a story that is about a little girl who experiences the world differently than everyone else, but no one understands her point of view. Just like me! Haha."

"I have written a story about a girl who wakes up one day to find her world has turned upside down but nobody but her seems to notice the oddities. It's called Violet's Weird Day and is based on my experience with VS. I haven't started trying to find a publisher yet as I'm working on promoting my current book. I think it would be nice to have an afterward in the book that gives some information about what inspired the story, what VS is, etc. Lots of people with health problems (esp. mental and neurological problems) could relate."
