Fifth-generation migraine sufferer NN had a history of migraine with aura from the age of ca. 18, her visual aura symptoms including static, scotomas, tunnel vision, prolonged afterimages and trails. At the age of 22, following a period with an increased frequency of her attacks of classic migraines, the singer/songwriter and composer sustained persistent aura without infarction, featuring a variety of visual hallucinations of random form dimension (static, visual snow, stars), visual loss (scotomas) and increased afterimages. The artist reported: "I have noticed certain types and levels of lighting make it worse. Fluorescent lights are the absolute worst. I have to work under them (though I may be quitting my job soon as I can't take it anymore) and my visual symptoms are completely out of control when I'm under them, worse than any other time. I also don't do well with any bright lighting, or harsh contrasts in lighting (like dark rooms with bright spotlights or track lighting)."
