How can I find a doctor knowledgeable and experienced in taking care of people with persistent aura?
Look for a neurologist with an interest in migraines. A teaching hospital would be good place to go - since their doctors are likely to be interested in unusual cases.
You may carry a copy of the webpages on diagnostic criteria and therapy of persistent aura without infarction to your doctor to provide him or her with an up-to-date information on this complication of migraine with aura.

"He's an neuro-ophthalmologist who finally said what my problem was. He did discuss persistent aura. His discussion about treating this disorder was direct and clear. "I saw Dr. Raskin again the other day at UCSF. Like most, he's not that worried from a medical standpoint. He's sympathetic to my/our dilemma.
