Stopping focussing on persistent aura symptoms

"Lastly and most importantly, I stopped thinking about VS so much, and I kept telling myself that I still have 20/20 vision even with VS. Once I started thinking about it again, I noticed looking at walls that the VS was nearly gone and I didn't see nearly as much static as normal."

(ihatethesnow [subject #136], Ezboard forum Visual snow or static – Discussion – My VS is going away, June 27, 2006)

"I used to post here a while back and now almost never come here anymore... mainly because my symptoms are nearly gone. I had each and every symptom you guys write about: vs, trails, mouches volantes, dizziness, difficulty concentrating etc. What did I do to get rid of all of this? Nothing. I relaxed and quit obsessing about the symptoms. I know they were very real and a HUGE pain but I thought back then and more than ever think now that anxiety is key to all of this. I started getting on with my life and quit paying attention to the symptoms and they started reducing considerably.

I know it seems impossible. I thought the same. But I can tell you that things can get a lot better. Take some time off this board. Don't come here every day or several times a day. Consider psychotherapy.

All the best to all of you."

(iuris [subject #192], Yuku forum Visual snow or static – General discussion – Symptoms 95% gone, November 30, 2007)

According to iuris, the improvement of symptoms was brought on by "Changing my life considerably. Looking at my personal relationships and myself. Ignoring wasn't a conscious effort. The symptoms became less important."

"The only things that've helped me so far is just to laugh, enjoy life and ignore the symptoms. But thats the hard part, we don't follow the symptoms, they follow us."
