Sorami [subject #553], My VS picture, 2008. "This is what I'm seeing, but smaller dots, and the color is the dots, but I wasn't able to do that with my computer." © 2008 Sorami

N/A
9. Have you been diagnosed with persistent aura (prolonged migraine aura status)?
No.
10. What is your visual problem and how long does it last?
I believe it is VS, but I'm not sure. What I see are extremely small dots all flashing and rotating. They are all different colors and cover all of my vision all the time, even when I close my eyes. It's much more prominent in the dark, they become much more frantic and brighter. I've had it for all my life.

Not that I can think of.
12. What do you take or do for your vision problem and does it help?
Nothing.

It never stops.

None.
17. Do you have a positive family history for migraine? If yes, who is affected?
Yes, my mother and her sisters.
18. Other information you want to provide? I am near sighted, but only very little."

"My neuro-ophthalmologist told me that what I was seeing was a form of floaters (partially because he doesn't believe me at all). He also told me most people had them, but no one ever makes a big deal about it."
(Sorami [subject #553], Yuku forum Visual snow or static - General discussions - My sister's Doctor..., April 2, 2008)
"I've been able to make little pictures, like a crudely drawn eye, with my static. Only when my eyes are closed though."
(Sorami [subject #553], Yuku forum Visual snow or static - General discussions - Can anyone controls any aspects of snow/static?, April 2, 2008)
"All it is, is just a drawn eye, not like an actual eye or anything like that. Almost like an outline.
I'm not extremely sure how it works, but I can close my eyes and focus on the word eye for example, and it just forms out of the static."

"I suppose it works with any word, I just tried with the word butterfly and it made almost like a first grader's drawing of it out of the static. I see the image of a butterfly, but cartoonish."

Upon being asked whether that works for geometric figures as well, e.g. thinking of circles, triangles or squares, she replied:
"Yes it does work for them.
It doesn't work with my eyes open or not that I can see, most likely because I am focusing on the things around me."

"As for VS in dreams, if I do have it, I haven't noticed. I barely remember dreams anyways."
(Sorami [subject #553], Yuku forum Visual snow or static - General discussions - Sorami, April 4, 2008)
"I noticed that sometimes, when I start to daydream a little, or zone out, my visual snow would turn to this very bright yellow/white in the left corner of my vision and growing to fill up almost my whole vision to the point where I couldn't really see, and got brighter and brighter, and then it stopped. This happened for a while, even when I blinked and changed what I was looking at. Anyone else see this?"
(Sorami [subject #553], Yuku forum Visual snow or static - General discussions - Anyone have this?, April 25, 2008)
The duration of this experience "really depends, normally from 30 seconds to maybe three minutes."
(Sorami [subject #553], Yuku forum Visual snow or static - General discussions - Anyone have this?, April 26, 2008)
"What I mean by zoning out, is like my mind wanders off and I start thinking of other things, then when I start focusing again it will start up."
(Sorami [subject #553], Yuku forum Visual snow or static - General discussions - Anyone have this?, April 26, 2008)
"It normally happens when I'm zoned out, but it's happened perhaps once or twice when I was paying attention. I started seeing this maybe two, three months ago?"
